ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has vowed to weed out terrorism at all costs for peace and security in the country. Addressing the passing-out parade of first batch of Balochistan’s Counter- Terrorism Force in Quetta on Thursday, he said protection of lives and properties of the people is our foremost priority. We will not rest till the homeland is completely purged of the curse of terrorism, he said.

He said the war on terrorism which has been expanded to the entire country will continue till its logical conclusion. He said we have to win this war at all costs as it is the matter of the survival of our future generations and economic stability of the country.

He said establishment of counter terrorism force in provinces is manifestation of our firm determination against the menace. This force is being equipped with latest arms and weapons to enhance their capacity.

He said the nation has rendered innumerable sacrifices in the war against terrorism. The security forces on the one hand are engaged in Zarb-e-Azb operation in North Waziristan and the federal and provincial governments on the other hand are striving to cleanse the country of terrorists through the implementation of National Action Plan.

He said the consensus demonstrated by our institutions, political leaders and the armed forces against terrorism is unprecedented. In his remarks on the occasion, Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik said the provincial police force will be provided with all the facilities.

He said the police force will be depoliticised and recruitment will be made on merit. He expressed the confidence that the police force will perform their duty for the protection of the people.

Earlier, the Prime Minister gave away prizes to the outstanding officers of the force. On the occasion, the personnel of Counter Terrorism Force also demonstrated their skills to fight terrorists. The ceremony was also attended amongst others by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
