PMA may move court against SMDC formation

KARACHI: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Center and PMA Karachi on Thursday showed concern on formation of Sindh Medical & Dental Council by using umbrella of 18th constitutional amendment.

An emergent meeting of PMA Centre and PMA Karachi was held at PMA House, Karachi to discuss the issue of Sindh Medical & Dental Council (SMDC). It was noted with concern that the formation of SMDC was was totally baseless as there was no provision in this amendment for devolution of regulatory bodies.

“It is a misappropriation of 18th amendment by a group of people who have their own vested interest. This group is putting the entire medical education in the country to the course of disaster for its own interest and benefit.

It was also noted with great concern that on big advertisement in all reputable newspapers of the country, millions of rupees from the PMDC account were being spent, which was deplorable. It is interesting to note that same persons are at both ends i.e. occupying PMDC illegally.”

PMA is mulling to go to the court of law to stop this illegal and unconstitutional act to save the medical profession of the country.
