PMA Sindh expresses reservations on Sindh Healthcare Commission representation

Hyderabad: General Secretary, Pakistan Medical Association, Sindh chapter Dr Pir Manzoor Ali on Wednesday expressed reservations of the representation in newly constituted Healthcare Commission and demanded of the chief minister Sindh to take notice in this regard.

This he said while addressing a press conference in Hyderabad here. He said PMA is the architect of healthcare commission and will not allow any conspiracy against it.

Pir Manzoor said everybody knows that health has become a provincial matter after the 18th amendment and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) which regulates healthcare system in Pakistan has failed to fulfil its duties. In these circumstances, PMA struggled for establishment of the healthcare commissions in all provinces. The bills regarding the healthcare commission were passed by all provincial assemblies.

He said objective of this commission is to monitor health delivery system both in public and private sector. Moreover the commission is also responsible to resolve the problems of doctors, paramedics, nurses and patients. This commission will consist on the representatives of health department, representatives of private sector and PMA.

He said the Sindh Healthcare Commission was announced on 19th January 2016 but unfortunately ‘a vested interest group’ has been included in this commission as hoax representatives of PMA. He said leader of this ‘vested interest’ has already been expelled from PMA because of his negative activities.

He said PMA Sindh condemns this fake representation in the commission. He demanded of the Chief Minister Sindh to take notice of the matter and expel fake representatives from the healthcare commission and form a new legal body.

He said if their demand is not accepted, then they will protest against it first all over their province and then all over the country.
