KARACHI: Most of the cases pertaining to police martyrs and injured financial assistance compensation have been disposed of and an amount of Rs 666,500,000 have been paid accordingly. During the financial year 2013-2014, 327 families of police martyrs were paid financial assistance amounting to Rs 645,700,000 and 151 police injured compensated with an amount up to the tune of Rs 20,800,000.
This was informed to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Iqbal Mehmood during his visit to 300 acre piece of land which has been identified for distribution among the legal heirs of police martyrs. It was further informed that under this scheme, the plots would be provided to almost all the families of police martyrs since 1990. IGP reviewed at length the progress of development work related to the town planning and issued necessary instructions.
IGP also paid visit to six different identified sites for the development of 600 flats including Garden Headquarter, Risala Police Lines, Nagina Police Lines and Qayyumabad Base SRP. It was informed that at each site, 100 family flats have been planned to be constructed for residential accommodation of married police personnel only.
Mehmood during the visit to Qayyumabad SRO-Base II also apprised of the SRP performance. DIG SRP Tahir Aalam briefed the chair about the functioning of SRP branch with special reference to operational effectiveness of Quick Response Force. He said that the officers and personnel of QRF have been placed at the disposal of East, West and South Zones of Karachi for augmenting the efforts of Karachi police in maintenance of law and order situation and crime control.
Aalam informed about that deployment of SRP police on various government, semi government buildings, vital installations and consulates as per the requirement and need of the district police.
