Police claim killing to gangsters in encounter

KARACHI: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) CIA Sultan Ali Khawaja on Wednesday said two gang war accused were shot dead during a clash with Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) police on Lyari Expressway in Garden area on late last night.

Addressing a press conference in his office along with SSP AVCC Nasir Aftab, he claimed that two gang war criminals, Syed Nazim, son of Syed Kaleem, and Muhammad Ali alias Babu, son of Gul Muhammad, were injured in exchange of fire with AVCC police last night.

DIG said that the injured succumbed to their wounds when they were being shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.

On the occasion, SSP AVCC CIA Nasir Aftab said that both the criminals belonged to Lyari Gang war and their accomplices were arrested earlier. He said that criminals, Syed Nazim and Muhammad Ali, were involved in over 100 criminal cases.

SSP said that arrested accused had confessed that Nazim and Babu were involved in killing, bank robberies, house robberies, short term kidnappings and street crimes.

Nasir claimed that the deceased accused had killed Sub-inspector Mustafa and injured two others persons in Garden area on 22nd of last month and also shot dead two persons in Ibrahim Haidery.

He said that they also looted over 10 banks along with their accomplices in the city. He said that they had looted many citizens near Bank ATM machines.

DIG announced cash reward and appreciation letters for the raid team.
