Police detain 50 in raids

KARACHI: Police on Wednesday arrested 50 suspects including some private security guards during raids at different parts of the metropolis.

Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police claimed that two alleged dacoits, Mohammad Bilal, son of Mustafa and Danial son of Afzal were arrested after an encounter near Abdullah College at Banaras Bridge. Two TT pistols, 7 rounds, five snatched mobiles phones, cash and a snatched motorcycle were recovered from their possession. They said arrested suspects were involved in different crimes.

Earlier, police arrested 10 alleged suspects during a search operation in Mohammad Goth in Manghopir area. Weapons were also seized from them. Police said further investigation was under way against the arrested suspects.

In Chanesar Goth area of Mehmoodabad, 20 suspects were arrested by police during raid. They said a raid was arranged on secret information. Weapons were also recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, police arrested a street criminal from Clifton area. Snatched mobile phones were recovered from his possession. Clifton police detained 17 guards of private security companies. Police said arrested guards were not wearing proper uniforms.
