Karachi: The traditional political parties and their leaders are not sincere with the cause of early release of Pakistani mother, Dr Aafia Siddiqui, and they have used the name of the daughter of the nation just to befool people and further their vested interests, said Pasban e Pakistan general secretary and candidate for NA-256 by-polls Usman Moazzam here Wednesday.
He regretted that Pakistan Tahreek Insaf (PTI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamaat e Islami (JI) betrayed the cause of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. These parties and their leaderships are not sincere to take serious efforts for an early release and repatriation of Aafia. Only the Pasban from the day one has been raising strong voice for Dr Siddiqui, as it needs a brave leadership to raise the issue of the Pakistani mother.
He said the coward politicians lack courage even to talk about Dr Aafia Siddiqui. He suggested that the PTI, JI and MQM should withdraw their candidates in favor of Pasban e Pakistan, recognizing its bold stance on the issue of Dr Aafia, who is also the daughter of Karachi. He said the coward politicians could not bring any ‘change’ in Karachi, as well as, Pakistan.
He said it seemed the vital national issues are not amongst the priorities of these traditional politicians. He said Dr Aafia’s release could not be secured with just protests and rallies. He asked why the leaders of the opposition parties of Pakistan are so afraid of America. He said if he were elected he would bring home Dr Aafia Siddiqui, or tender resignation from the National Assembly.
Talking about the local issues, Usman Moazzam said the rulers of Sindh and the MQM have been using ‘quota system’ as the main tool of their politics. Both these parties have been exploiting their voters in the name of ‘rights on the basis of domicile’. He said the quota system has proved as a useless system. He said had the quota system were so beneficial Sindh today would have attained a lot of progress and prosperity. He asked the voters of Karachi to realize that they are being maneuvered with the trap of quota system and now is the time to ditch this farce.
