ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman has said that they did not want to take to the streets, but free and fair local body elections are not possible under the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members.
Speaking at a press conference, she said all four provincial election commissioners should have resigned immediately after the 2013 general election.
Punjab PPP President Manzoor Wattoo said the party held dialogue on seat adjustment with all political parties, except the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
He said his party leaders were being politically victimised in Sindh and Punjab. We fully support Operation Zarb-e-Azb,” he said. Wattoo vowed to withdraw all PPP candidates for the upcoming LG poll if ECP members cling to their posts.
Former Punjab Governor Latif Khosa also linked PPP’s participation in local bodies elections to resignations of ECP officials.
