ISLAMABAD: PPP Senator, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla has warned that his political party along with other opposition parties will hold protests at all the airports of the country if Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is privatized through an ordinance.
In a press statement issued from his office here on Monday, Senator Mandviwalla has questioned “Why the government has not sought approval from the Senate and the NA for privatization of PIA with due diligence before making decision of selling its assets and promulgated an ordinance which is un-constitutional”.
Senator Mandviwalla said that Nawaz government always sold national assets through unconstitutional ways like PTCL was sold in the past. He demanded that Judicial Commission should be set up to probe the affairs of PIA and a financial audit of the last 10 years should be done, responsible should be brought to light before the privatization of PIA.
He said PPP has strongly opposed the federal government over privatization of the country biggest airlines Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) due to its significant losses during last few years.
