Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Wednesday announced complete suspension of dialogue with the government until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation. He alleged the government tried to buy him off by offering post of deputy premiership.
Addressing the ‘Azadi March’ participants Imran Khan said that he cannot trust any investigation or reforms under Nawaz Sharif’s premiership. He said that he will not leave the sit-in protest until Prime Minister’s resignation, adding that he is taking steps to rescue democracy.
He said that no compromise over resignation demand is accepted, and that this step is for the sake of democracy.
He insisted he is a democratic man and that he hasn’t done a thing that is undemocratic.
PTI chief said that his only mistake was to endorse former President general retired Pervez Musharraf in referendum, adding that he had apologized to the whole nation for that.
He reiterated there’s no difference between former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mobarak and Nawaz Sharif. “We offered concessions, we agreed for the PM to resign only for 30 days, but they know what would happen if they allow investigations to proceed,” stated the PTI chairman.
He said that “If you pull back, there will be no independent inquiry under Nawaz Sharif,” Imran tells his supporters. He said that government has offered to make me deputy prime minister.
