PPP stands by govt to safeguard democracy: Opposition leader

Islamabad: National Assembly resumed its session on Thursday with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair. Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said all political forces will have to join hands to expose hidden hand behind activities against democracy.

The Defence Minister said the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab have taken strict notice of the Lahore incident and stern action will be taken against the culprits in light of the investigation report of the judicial commission.

Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah speaking on a point of order said the PPP stands by the government to safeguard democracy.

He said the government should have adopted political strategy to handle the situation in Lahore to avoid loss of precious lives.

Khursheed Shah said the PPP had dealt with Tahir-ul-Qadri’s protest in a political manner.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi stressed the need for cooling down the matter and demanded withdrawal of FIRs registered against protesters.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai while condemning the incident said we must find the culprits involved in the incident.
