President: (Pakistan and Bahrain enjoy close and fraternal relations: President)

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan and Bahrain enjoy close and fraternal relations which are rooted in common faith, culture and history.

The President said this while talking to Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Kingdom of Bahrain, Javaid Malik, who called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Tuesday.

The President said that Pakistan wishes to enhance its relations with Bahrain in all fields of mutual interest including defence.

He said Pakistan attaches great significance to its relations with the countries of Gulf Region adding that efforts should be made for further increasing Pakistan’s relations with other countries in the region.

The President emphasized that new vistas and avenues be explored to further enhance the bilateral trade for the mutual benefit of two countries asked him to make maximum efforts to conclude Pak-GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

He advised the ambassador-designate to maintain close liaison with the Pakistani community in Bahrain and redress their grievances if any.

He congratulated Javaid Malik on his appointment as ambassador to Bahrain and hoped that his appointment will further strengthen Pakistan’s relations with Bahrain.
