ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that there is need to enhance defence production capabilities for economic stability of the country.
He was addressing a seminar on public-private partnership in production and export of defence equipments here on Wednesday. He said public-private partnership in defence production will usher in new era in the progress of this industry.
He said Pakistan is producing state of the art defence products and it has also exported these to some friendly countries. He said there is a need to adopt better marketing policy for enhancing export of defence production.
He said the country has yet not been able to exploit its true potential in defence related exports due to weak marketing, law and order situation and problems being faced by this region.
The President said that defence industry could be further strengthened and its exports be enhanced by engaging the private sector in an effective manner. He said the Government should encourage private sector for this purpose.
He expressed the hope that participants of the seminar will present effective proposals for public private partnership and export of defence products exports.
In his speech, Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistan has achieved many successes in defence production.
He said foreign investment is needed for the expansion of this sector. He said Pakistan Aeronautical Complex is manufacturing JF-17 thunder with the cooperation of China.
