Promoting sports must for healthy society: Moinuddin Haider

Karachi: Former Sindh governor Moinuddin Haider has said that promoting sports is necessary to establish a healthy society.

Talking at a luncheon hosted by Syed Khurram Bukhari son of noted industrialist and writer Syed Ammar Bukhari in the honour of political, social, industry and commerce leaders to celebrate winning a car in hole in one event of the golf tournament, he said the developed countries always give prime focus to sports. He said the win of Khurram Bukhari is his major achievement in sports. He said during his service in army, the golf and polo were his favourite sports.

Syed Ammar Bukhari said that the golf is an international sport, adding in Pakistan there is no dearth of talented golf players. He said the government should promote golf, establish golf clubs, patronize players and provide needed resources in facilitating them so that Pakistani players could also win in the international events.

Syed Khurram Bukhari said that the role of Pakistan Golf Association could not be ignored in promotion of golf in Pakistan. He said talented sportsmen are playing their role in making this sport popular. He suggested that the government should take steps at grassroots level so that new talent could be found and polished to shine the name of our country. He asked to work on school and college level to promote golf sports.
