Peshawar: Koki Khel Tribal elders from Khyber Agency affiliated with Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) have demanded of the government to stop developmental works on Regi Lalma Township and resolve the disputed land with mutual understanding with the concerned tribal owners.
“The disputed land measuring almost 20 thousand kenals, is the property of Koki khel tribes. There is apparent Maffi-Grift line in regi lalma,” claimed a PTI FATA Senior leader Shahzad Afridi while speaking at a press conference here at Press Club on Monday.
The Maffi-Grift, he informed that the former was a Political Agent (PA) of Khyber agency while the latter was a Commissioner Peshawar in 1912, had demarcated the land by constructing a wall (bridges) aimed at settling the land issue among the civilians of Peshawar and tribal people of Jamrud Khyber agency.
“Despite all the concerned documented proofs of 1912 are available with the tribal people and the present PA Khyber, and Stay Order from the court as well against the township till its complete resolution, the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) is expediting developmental works on regi lalma, which is injustice with them,” he alleged.
He said that the Governor North West Frontier Province (NWFP) in 1977 Naseerullah Babar had also accepted the Maffi-Grift line, but the PTI leader from the agency alleged that the PDA was trying to displace the tribal people from their own lands in the name of regi lalma township.
The tribal people in thousands, he further informed that had been living in the area for decades, adding that if they were evicted, where they would go because they were too poor to afford any other land for their families even in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) due to their worst condition of poverty.
Accompanied by the party workers hailing from the same agency, he lambasted the elected representatives, said that none of the MNAs from the agency raised voice for the voiceless people and took up the problems with the governments in this regard so that it could be solved amicably.
The PTI illustrious workers, therefore, appealed the party Chief Imran Khan, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khan Khattak (KP), the provincial Minister for Local Government (LG) Inayatullah Khan and members of the committee (The committee was formed by former CM of the province Ameer Haider Khan Hoti to solve the issue), to avoid eviction of tribal people from their lands.
They added that there were ten thousands houses and thousands of people were inhabited the areas, so the possession of the concerned administration be removed and the problem be resolved with mutual understanding in order to avoid any tussle in this connection.
