Public buildings should be constructed according to latest earthquake proof designs, Sardar Mohammad

Peshawar: Secretary Transport Khyber Pakhtunkhwa & Monitoring Officer for District Swat Captain ® Sardar Mohammad Abbas has said that public buildings in seismic zones like swat should be constructed according to the latest earthquake proof designs so that life of the buildings could be maintained up to maximum possible level, besides ensuring the safety of hundreds of citizens & students.

This he said while carrying out a surprise visit of the under construction building of Girls College Takhta Band Mingora on Thursday, which is being constructed with a cost of Rs.300 millions and would be completed in June, 2016. The Secretary posed various technical queries on SDO Farman and Sub Engineer Habibullah while inspecting various parts of the building. However he expressed his complete satisfaction over the standard and pace of the project.

The Secretary also visited Civil Hospital Kabal and inspected the casualty, O.T, X-ray plant and costly Generator. He advised the quarter concerned to construct a suitable shade for the Generator and protective measures for X-ray section.

Earlier the monitoring officer held a public hearing at TMA Kabal where people from various section of society and journalists informed him about problems of the area relating to PESCO, C&W, District Jail Swat, teachers shortage at various school especially female, shifting of Nikphi Khail General Bus Stand, Provision of Surgeon in Kabal Hospital, potable  drinking water in schools, shortage of lecturers in Govt. Degree College Kabal, disposal of solid wastes of the city  & speeding up gas supply work to Kabal and its extension to hilly areas. Earlier the monitoring officer visited Govt. Middle School Aligrama and listened to the problems of staff and students as well.
