Karachi: Punjab and KPK cricket teams registered convincing victories in SAGA Premier League (SPL), which commenced on Tuesday at Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore.
In the first match of the day, Punjab defeated Sindh by 15 runs. Batting first in the match, Punjab scored 121 runs for loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Muneeba Ali was top scorer with 34 runs while Aliya Riaz added 25 runs and Irum Javaid contributed 20 runs. Hafsa Amjad took two wickets for Sindh team.
In reply, Sindh scored 106 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ayesha Zafar batted well forteh side scoring 44 runs. Javaria Khan, Sadia Yousaf and Aliya Riaz (2-21) bowled well for the winners capturing two wickets each.
Meanwhile, KPK scored 105-5 in allotted 20 overs against Balochistan later in the day. Bismah Maroof batted well for the side scoring 33 runs while Kainat Hafeez contributed 29 runs.
In reply, Baluchistan team scored only 83-7 in allotted 20 overs. Only Sana Urooj (28 runs) and Marina Iqbal (21 runs) reached double figures. Almas Akram bowled lethally for Sindh and grabbed three wickets for only nine runs.
