Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali has expressed serious concern over finding three Indus blind dolphins dead within last 25 days and directed chief conservator to report the details of the causalities.

Blind dolphins are the beauty and identification of the province of Sindh and they must be protected, he said, adding that there is a protected sanctuary of Indus Dolphins between Guddu and Sukkur Barrages. Their inhabitant has always been free of pollution, then why they are dying, he questioned.

He further observed that in the past sometimes Indus dolphins were found entangled in the doors of Dadu or Rice canals or moved to shallow water and then people caught hold of them . “This is alarming that these days they are being found dead. This needs to be inquired thoroughly.”

He directed the Commissioners of Sukkur and Hyderabad to take necessary measures to keep the inhabitant of the Indus dolphin free from pollution.
