Raid on MQM scares Karachiites

KARACHI: Main roads, streets and arteries got deserted and shops shutter downed soon after rangers raided on MQM headquarters Nine Zero on Wednesday morning.

Panic was spread among masses as it was a big news for the city, which had in the past witnessed complete shutdowns on minor incidents or even a rumor related to the political party.

Despite rangers’ call to ‘remain calm and run your businesses’, schools, colleges and universities administrations could not put students at danger, hence closed the educational institutes and postponed exams.

Business community, transporters and petrol pumps did not give a second thought to start functioning either.

City administration was not found at Civic Center. However, employees of many other organizations did not bother to attend their offices.

Administrator Karachi, metropolitan commissioner Karachi and many senior and other officers were among other important personalities who did not show up that day, said sources.
