Rain emergency in district South

Karachi: District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Soutrh administrator Mir Farooq Langove said on Tuesday that rain emergency has been declared in District South viewing the possible heavy summer rains in the metropolis.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Karachi has already issued an alert of expected heavy rains in Karachi so that administration of South Karachi has decided to enforce rain emergency till the end of threat, said administrator South while presiding over a high-level meeting with departmental officers at his office.

He said the rain emergency centers have also been established that will work round o clock on daily basis to protect people.

He directed concerned officers to ensure 100% attendance of staff and field officers. Langove said the Emergency Control Rooms is established in central office of the South located at Rafiqui Shaheed Road near Haqani Chowk where anyone could contact on telephone numbers 99211390_99211429.

He said rain emergency centers have also been established to take immediate action on public complaints in Lyari and Keamari zones as well.

He directed concerned staff of Sanitary and Sewerage, Building and Roads, Mechanical and Electrical to ensure their presence along with necessary equipments at the rain emergency centers to comply quickly on complaints if any incident occurs and de-watering the affected areas if needed.
