Rain washes out second ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand

Napier: Persistent rain washed out the second One-Day International between New Zealand and Pakistan here in Napier on Thursday.

Bruce Oxenford and Billy Bowden, the on-field umpires, waited for more than four hours expecting the weather to clear, but by the time rain stopped, the sun had set, and there was no possibility of the waterlogged outfield of McLean Park drying up, leading to the match being abandoned.

New Zealand had won the first ODI in Wellington on Monday by 70 runs with the third and final match scheduled to be played in Auckland on Sunday.
