ISLAMABAD: All the necessary preparations and arrangements are being made by the government to repatriate maximum number of Afghan refugees by the end of this year.
According to senior officials, the government has already constituted a Ministerial committee to find ways and means to ensure expeditious voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees and their reintegration inside Afghanistan.
The repatriation of registered Afghan refugees is guided by the principle of voluntarism as embedded in the Tripartite Agreement signed between Pakistan, Afghanistan and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
According to official sources 1.6 million registered Afghan refugees and as many un-documented Afghan citizens are living in Pakistan for over two and half decades.
