’Relief of CNG price cut must reach to commuters’

KARACHI: Karachi Transport Action Committee President Ashraf Banglori on Sunday welcomed step of federal government to cut the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by Rs17 per kilogram and demanded of Sindh government to ensure that the benefit of this reduction should also reached to commuters in shape of reduced public transport fares.

In a release, he stressed that the transport department of Sindh government should give a direct relief in public transport fares. He said the monopoly of transporter mafia should be eliminated. He said: “It will be total failure of government, if it again failed to bring down bus fares in Karachi.”

Banglori said almost all Karachi public transport vehicles are converted on CNG but the transporter mafia charge bus fare on the basis of diesel consumption which is a fraud with general public, but the Sindh government sadly is not taking notice of this fraud.

He demanded of Sindh government to announce proportionate cut in public transport fares to show that it is not playing in the hand of transporter mafia.
