Repeatedly broken water lines show height of negligence

Karachi: Repeatedly broken water lines, especially in District East Karachi show the height of negligence of the civic agencies towards the citizens, said ex-MPA and Jamaat-e-Islami district East chapter amir Mohammad Yunus Barai.

He said breaking of water pipelines first in front of Federal Urdu University and later near the Safari Park on the Main University Road created a lot of hurdles for the citizens. He said sadly the civic infrastructure sector of the city is badly neglected due to politically motivated appointments of incompetent people, whose first priority is to loot and plunder the national resources. He said there is a dire need to revamp the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, district municipal corporations and other civic agencies to save the citizens from unnecessary troubles.

Barai demanded to repair all old and leaky water and sewerage lines in the district East Karachi, besides repairing broken streets. He reminded that the Main University Road from the Karachi University to Safoora Chowrangi has become almost non-motorable due to potholes, broken gutter lines and roadside encroachments. He asked to repair this road on priority and remove all encroachments from it on priority. He said the civic agencies should keep a constant vigil on the civic facilities and repair them timely to facilitate the citizens.
