Report: (Indian political leaders, world media praise Modi’s Lahore visit)

ISLAMABAD: The visit of Indian Prime Minister to Pakistan has also been praised by Indian political leaders and highlighted positively in the international media.

According to media reports, General Secretary of Communist Party of India Sitaram Yechury said the dialogue process between the two countries must go on and people to people contact should be promoted.

Former Indian foreign secretary Salman Haider said meeting is hope of good relations between the two countries. BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said the Prime Minister Modi’s visit should be welcomed as good relations between India and Pakistan augur well for regional peace.

Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh described it as a positive step. The Chicago Tribune noted it as a potential sign of thaw in relations. The Time magazine called it the biggest surprise.

National Public Radio of the United States said this move could be a sign of improving relations between the two neighbours. According to Log Angeles Times, Modi’s visit breathed new life into a long troubled relationship.
