Respondent request SHC to throw out petition seeking fresh probe into molestation case

KARACHI: An employer, who was alleged to have tortured and raped his maid, has requested the Sindh High Court (SHC) to throw out the petition seeking fresh probe into sexual assault case as it was already investigated and no evidence could be placed on record to substantiate allegations levelled against him.

He submitted his reply to SHC in compliance of its orders, stating that a false case was constituted against him to blackmail him and his family.

A division bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh took on record the statement of respondent employer and adjourned the hearing of case to a date later be fixed by court office.

Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) and victim’s father filed a joint petition seeking re-investigation into the rape case.

The petitioner told the court that his 13-year-old daughter was raped by her employer who later issued life threats to her daughter to hush up the case. As a result, the maid tried to commit suicide by drinking phenyl.

He said that on court directions, the police registered FIR but investigation officer declared the case as A-class in final charge-sheet which was also accepted by judicial magistrate.

The petitioner said that medico-legal examination had also confirmed that the girl was subjected to sexual abuse, but this evidence was deliberately not incorporated in the charge-sheet.

He requested the court to order fresh investigation into the case.
