Rs268200 fine charged from profiteers

KARACHI: In a crackdown on profiteers, 86 shopkeepers were charged with Rs268200 fine for selling commodities on above rate than fixed by the city administration. Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the campaign launched against profiteers would continue till they ensured that the commodities were sold at rates fixed by the administration.

He further said that city administration has focused those areas where complaints against price hike were received. These areas included Garden, Ferozabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Baldia, Manghopir, Liaquatabad, Gulberg, Nazimabad, New Karachi, Model Colony and Korangi.

In the crackdown, 64 milkmen, 01 shopkeeper, 20 chicken sellers and a vegetable seller have been fined on selling essential items on excessive prices.
