Rs5m Zakat given to 15 Karachi hospitals

Karachi: Provincial Minister for Zakat & Ushr Sindh Dost Muhammad Rahimoon on Thursday directed the officials to allocate more funds for healthcare institutions for better provision of health facilities to poor and deserving patients at public hospitals.

He expressed these views at a Zakat & Ushr cheques distribution ceremony amongst the heads of 15 government and charitable hospitals of Karachi at Sindh Secretariat. Chairman Zakat & Ushr Committee Karachi Khalid Latif and Secretary Ramzan Awan were also present.

Dost Muhammad stressed the need of increasing the scope of Zakat fund allocations for hospitals in the province. He instructed the Health Welfare Committees (HWC) to display patient welfare boards at special points in hospitals so that more patients can get benefit from these public welfare schemes.

He said after devolution of powers from federal to provincial government the Zakat and Ushr department will allocate more funds for healthcare institutions in future.

He said helping the poor masses is the motto of PPP government and provincial authorities are striving to resolve the problems being facing by people. He assured his full support to healthcare institutions in future.

Chairman Zakat & Ushr Committee Karachi Khalid Latif said Rs5 million funds have been distributed among 15 hospitals of Karachi. He said these hospitals will utilize these funds for poor and deserving people through Health Welfare Committees. He informed that Rs360 million funds annually are distributed among public hospitals of Sindh.

Provincial Minister for Zakat & Ushr disturbed the check among heads of 15 government and charitable hospitals of Karachi including Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad Karachi, Sindh Government Hospital New Karachi, Sindh Govt Hospital Saudabad, Spencer Eye Hospital, Kutiyana Memon Jamaat Khana Hospital and others.
