SALU’s Students Week 2015 concludes

KHAIRPUR: Students Week 2015 concluded at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur on Thursday. SALU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Parveen Shah was the chief guest at the singing competition, while Aijaz Ahmed Mahar was the convener at the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Shah said that healthy activities can promote the sense of competition and boldness. VC said that she was satisfied at the enthusiasm and spirit shown by the students during the week-long celebrations.

Dr Shah said: “This auditorium is insufficient for co-curricular activities and PC-I for the construction of new one was underway and the same will be submitted to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah for approval. She advised students to plant a tree and take care of trees because we are facing environmental degradation in the society.

Earlier, Prof Dr Imdad Hussain Sahito, Director, Student Affairs, welcomed the VC. Prof Dr Miandad Zardari, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Main Campus, Prof Amanullah Bhatti, Dr. Tajnees Pirzada, Prof Qamar-un-Nisa Larik, Prof Zahida Mari, Aijaz Ahmed Mahar and others were present in the competition.

Various activities, including naat, debate, tableaus, singing, essay writing and poetry competitions were held during the week.

In naat competition, Mohammad Iqbal, Department of Computer Science, Yasir Ali Abbasi, Department of Statistics and Salik Inayat, Department of Commerce got first, second and third position.

In poetry competition, Sindhi language, Imran Ali Gopang, Imran Wassan, Department of Sindhi and Kaleemullah Qureshi secured first, second and third positions, respectively.

In Urdu poetry competition, Ms Javeria Shafique, Department of Chemistry, Syed Shan-e-Hyder, Department of Urdu and Ashaiue Ali Mirbahar secured first, second and third position, respectively.

In English competition, Mumtaz Ali Dayo, Mushahid Hussain, Department of English, and Nisar Samejo, Department of English and Agha Mansoor, Department of Pharmacy secured first, second and third positions respectively.

In Tableau competition, Asad Rajpar, Rehan Khan, Department of Public Administration and Saddam Hussain, Department of zoology secured first, second and third position, respectively.

In debate competition Sindhi, Yawar Mahesar, Department of IR, Mohammad Ayoub Khuawaja, Department of Commerce and Ghulam Mohammad Channa, Department of Political Sciences secured first, second and third positions respectively.

In Urdu language competition, Syed Shan-e-Hyder, Department of Urdu, Ms Javeria Shafique, Department of Chemistry and Junaid Ahmed, Department of Business Administration secured first, second and third positions respectively.

In English debate, Saifullah Shaikh, Ms Aisha Parveen Maitlo and Ms Rida Zainab, Department of Business Administration secured first, second and third positions, respectively.

In essay competition Sindh, Ms Afifa Hussain Shaikh, Department of Business Administration, Shahmir Ali, Department of Economics and Ms Shagufta Malik, Department of Pharmacy secured first, second and third positions.

In Essay Urdu, Ms Hina Batool, Department of Microbiology, Ms Rida Zainab, Department of Business Administration and Asif Khilji, Department of English secured first, second and third positions.

In singing competition, Mohammad Iqbal, Department of Computer Science Salamat Ali, Ms Ammara, Department of Commerce secured first, second and third positions. Ayaz Larik, Department of Physics got special positions.
