Secretary takes notice of non-functional generators in hospitals

LARKANA: Sindh Health Secretary, Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, has taken serious view of non-functional generators in the hospitals throughout the province.

In a circular letter addressed to all the heads of Sindh’s health institutions, he said that due to prevalent electricity outages, there is a dire need of alternate supply of electricity at health facilities to provide a soothing environment to the patients.

“Similarly, he wrote, during the recent heat-wave in Sindh, undersigned had received multiple complaints regarding the non-functionalization of generators at various hospitals which has ultimately affected the patients adversely, who were treated at various health facilities.”

Dr Mangnejo further instructed them: “you are required to maintain functioning and effective utilization of all generators in case of power failure, which are provided to the health facilities.” He further directed them to submit the inventory of various generators provided to the health facilities within five days positively. Meanwhile, he added, concerned administrative officer of health department/PPHI will also forward report into the state of functionalization of all the generators to health facilities after due verification within ten days positively.
