Security put on high alert in all major cities of Sindh

KARACHI: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Home Affairs, Sharfuddin Memon, on Monday said that security has been put on high alert in Karachi and other major cities of the province after brazen attack on Karachi airport by TTP militants on Sunday night.

Talking to PPI, Memon said that the security personnel had bravely repulsed the militant attack and ensured safety of sensitive logistics at Karachi airport through sacrificing their lives. “These security personnel are examples of bravery for the nation and everyone should appreciate their courage and sacrifice,” he said.

Memon said that security has been beefed up for the upcoming budget session on 13 June. “Outer wall of the Sindh Assembly building is covered with iron sheets while sand bags and barbed wires would also be placed at outer wall for the security of the assembly.”

The advisor said that security of red zone, including embassies of foreign countries and five star hotels, accommodating foreigners was also beefed up in order to avert any untoward incident.

He said that police and law enforcement personnel were directed to increase snap-checking and action against banned outfits in the city and arrest the perpetrators behind the attack.
