Senate: (CCI’s meeting soon: Senate told)

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada told the Senate on Monday that meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) is expected in the third week of next month.

Winding up motions moved by Sassui Palijo regarding non-convening of the meeting of CCI, he said agenda for the meeting has been refined in close coordination with the provinces; and hopefully, it will have positive outcome.

He said a summary has been sent to the Prime Minister for establishment of a permanent secretariat of CCI at the Ministry. The Chairman observed that under the constitution convening of meetings of CCI is mandatory after every three months.

Earlier, speaking on the motion, members demanded early convening of the meeting so that irritating issues to have discussed and sorted out. The speakers included Farhatullah Babar, Saeed Ghani, Abdul Qayyum, Mir Kabir, Usman Kakar, Mukhtiar Ahmad Dhamrah, Hasil Bizenjo, Shahi Syed and Azam Musakhel.
