Seven cops get bail in prize bonds theft case

Karachi:,,, Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday granted a bail to seven policemen allegedly involved in the theft of prize bonds worth around Rs 30 million.

Justice Hassan Feroze, who headed a division bench of SHC, approved the bail for seven police personnel subject to furnishing surety worth Rs 50,000 each.

Seven policemen were arrested for their alleged involvement in theft of prize bonds of the State Bank of Pakistan.

The police had registered an FIR (17/2014) under Sections 380, 409/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Railways Act on a complaint of an official of the State Bank of Pakistan.

Police official stated that 10 boxes containing prize bonds were given to 15 policemen of the Lahore city police for safe transfer to Karachi; however, one box containing bonds worth Rs 30 million went missing from the train when it arrived in Karachi.
