KARACHI: On the request of city administration, the government of Sindh has banned preparation, selling and playing firecrackers under section 144 on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.
Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has directed all the deputy and assistant commissioners and other responsible personalities to ensure the implementing ban on fireworks.
Siddiqui said this while addressing a meeting at his office. Additional Commissioner I Muhammed Aslam Khoso, Assistant Commissioner General Shahzeb Sheikh and other relevant officers were also present on the occasion.
The commissioner said that due to firecrackers, the people offering prayers, patients and specially heart patients face serious problems and mental disturbance.
The government has decided that to save the lives and properties, provide serene environment to the praying people and save from fire incidents, the preparation, selling and usage of firecrackers should be completely banned.
“Administration officials along with concerned district municipal corporation officers should ensure proper cleaning, removal of bushes from graveyards and placement of lightings there, while, keeping in view the expected crowd on Shab-e-Barat, the special steps of traffic management and security should also be carried out,” Siddiqui said.
