KARACHI: The opening ceremony of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Accident Emergency and Trauma Centre at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) will be held on Wednesday while Chairman Pakistan People Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to perform the inaugural ceremony of trauma centre.
An official of provincial health department Sindh told that the opening ceremony of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Accident Emergency and Trauma Centre will be held tomorrow. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Provincial Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar and other high-ups of health department are participating in the event.
The trauma centre comprises 15-storey and initially 7-story building will be made operational, while reset of building will be made functional next year. The trauma centre has been completed with the cost over Rs 5 billion.
Ex-Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had laid the foundation stone of project on 10th January 2009 and project was supposed to be completed in 2012. But trauma centre was formally opened for public on 23rd December 2015 after three years of delay.
This project will provides state-of-art emergency trauma care facilities to the people and thousands of patients would avail the best healthcare facilities under one roof. The trauma centre can house up to 500 patients once it will be made fully operational.
It would offer Surgery, Burns, Eye, Neurosurgery, Heart, Operation Theatres, Mortuary, Parking Facility, Medical Stores, Cafeteria, Mosque and other treatment facilities under one roof.
