LARKANA: The 61st birthday celebrations of slain PPP chairperson Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto will be held on 21 June 2014 for which seven blood donation camps will be established at various towns of Larkana district as per past practice.
These camps are being regularly organized since 2008 to pay her homage, after her untimely assassination in 2007. The District Health Officer (DHO), Larkana, has undertaken to establish camps for two days on 19 and 20 June in Dokri, Areeja, Ratodero and Naundero.
The Medical Superintendent (MS) of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Larkana will set up three medical camps for 19 to 21 June 2014 in Garhi Khuda Bux, Naundero House, Central Laboratory or Paeds Medicine Department where the PPP activists will arrive voluntarily and other workers will be brought by their respective leaders to donate blood.
In this connection, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Larkana Deputy Commissioner Ghanwar Ali Leghari in which MS Dr Safiullah
Abbas, I/C DHO Dr Fattah Bughio and others participated. The DHO informed the participants that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had sanctioned Rs 20 million for the purpose and had also directed the health secretary to procure relevant Hepatitis B & C, HIV testing kits (ICT devices) & blood packs etc.
It was decided that if any of the donor is detected positive for any ailment, it will be referred to CMCH for treatment. The participants further decided to discourage those political influential donors who just arrive at the camps to donate few CC blood for photo session only to avoid the wastage of tax payer’s hard earned money and the precious time of doctors and their technical staff who will be deputed to perform these duties at the camps.
PPP Naundero City President, Khalid Memon, told PPI that recitation from Holy Quran will be held at the grave of Benazir Bhutto on Saturday, June 21 followed by free distribution of food. Memon said top PPP leadership including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Co-Chairman Asif Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah are also expected to participate in the event.
