SHC adjourns illegal marriage garden’s case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing against illegally made marriage garden in North Nazimabad while giving last and final chance to garden’s counsel to file the comments.

SHC bench, headed by Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, was hearing the petition filed by a citizen, Mohammad Rehan, who moved the court against Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Sindh Building Control Association (SBCA) and owner of North Marriage Garden for constructing marriage hall on a residential plot.

In Wednesday’s hearing, marriage garden’s counsel, Khalid Mumtaz requested the court for adjournment. The court adjourned the case while allowing him last and final chance. The court’s order stated that no more time shall be granted and the matter shall be decided on material available on record at the next hearing.

The court also directed SBCA to submit a compliance report in terms of its order already passed.

Earlier, the petitioner submitted that his house is located in Block D, North Nazimabad which is totally residential area but a marriage garden namely North Marriage Garden has been established in his vicinity. He submitted that he sent many applications to the authorities concerned but no action was taken against illegally made marriage garden.

Citing KMC, SBCA and owner of the garden as respondents, the petitioner requested the court to direct the authorities to demolish the marriage hall.
