KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday directed Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to make new delimitations in five wards of Tando Adam without disturbing the election process scheduled on 23rd January, 2016.
SHC bench, headed by Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, was hearing the petitions filed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) challenging delimitations of ward no 3, 10, 14, 15 and 24 of Tanda Adam, district Sanghar.
The delimitations as per preliminary list of constituencies of local government issued by district election commissioner Sanghar and any other subsequent notifications issued by the government are set-aside by the court.
The court directed ECP to carry out the fresh delimitations in the above mentioned wards, if necessary, within seven days in way that scheduled election’s process should not be disturbed.
Earlier, the petitioners- MQM and PML-F – cited secretary local government, secretary revenue department, ECP, provincial election commissioner and deputy commissioner as respondents and requested the court to set aside the delimitations which was based on biasness.
