KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed the Rangers director general, IGP Sindh amd other officials of law enforcement agencies to disclose the whereabouts of a detainee, said to be picked up by Rangers personnel.
A division bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh a division bench was hearing a petition filed by Muhammad Shahzad, seeking recovery of his son, Muhammad Sohail.
The petitioner alleged that Rangers personnel took away his son from his workplace – Government Hospital Liaqatabad – on November 15 but they did not disclose his whereabouts. He said the personnel of LEAs neither produced him in the court of law nor showed his arrest in any criminal case.
Meanwhile, same bench issued notice to home secretary, Rangers director general, IG Sindh and other officials to file their replies to the petition seeking recovery of Masood Ali Khan, allegedly unlawfully detained by the Rangers personnel.
The petitioner, Mehnaz submitted that Rangers personnel raided her house in Metroville area on November 22 and took away her husband Masood. She added that since then there was no clue to him.
She said that the family members of the detainee had approached the officials concerned time and again to seek information about him but they did not disclose where he was. She pleaded to the court to direct the higher officials of LEAs to produce her husband in court.
