KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday dismissed the application filed by former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf seeking modification of its decision to suspend the operation of verdict in ECL case for 15 days.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, who had headed a division bench of SHC, dismissed the application of Musharraf for being infructuous as the Supreme Court (SC) had already suspended verdict of SHC to strike the Musharraf’s name off Exit Control List (ECL) on Monday.
SHC on June 12 had struck down the interior ministry’s memorandum for placing the name of the former military ruler on the ECL, but it suspended the operation of the judgment for 15 days so that the federal government, if it so desires, may file an appeal before the Supreme Court.
Musharraf through his counsel Farogh Naseem filed an application, submitting that he wants to visit his ailing mother in Dubai but he could not proceed due to suspension of the SHC judgment for 15 days. He requested the court to vacate the suspension order or reduce the suspension of its judgment from 15 days to five days so that the petitioner could proceed abroad.
