KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday issued notice to Sindh chief secretary, secretary local government and Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) administrator to explain why its order regarding removal of illegal encroachment from an amenity plot in New Karachi was not complied with.
A division bench was hearing an application filed by a resident, Rauf Qadri, who moved the court seeking initiation of contempt of court proceedings against the authorities concerned for flouting its earlier order.
The applicant submitted that an amenity plot measuring 10,000 square yards in Sector 5-E, New Karachi was illegally converted to be used for the purposes other than recreational. He said the court had directed the authorities concerned to take action against illegal occupation of land but despite passage of considerable time no action was taken.
Therefore, he requested the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against Sindh chief secretary, secretary local government and KMC administrator other officials for flouting its order.
