KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notice to home secretary, provincial police chief, Rangers director general and other respondents to reply to a petition against alleged illegal detention of a citizen by Rangers personnel.
A division bench, headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh, also issued notice to the deputy attorney general and advocate general Sindh to file comments on the petition by November 20.
The petitioner, Hameeda submitted that Rangers personnel raided her house in the Khadda Market area on October 20 and took away her son, Mohammad Farooq. She added that since then he was missing as Rangers personnel did not disclose his whereabouts.
The woman petitioner said that her son had never indulged in criminal actions, nor was he was required in any criminal case. Nevertheless, he was arrested by Rangers personnel, who have kept him in illegal detention. She said Rangers personnel should have produced her son in court of law if he was nominated in any criminal case. She pleaded to the court to direct law enforcement officials to produce her son in court.
