Shopkeepers take to streets against overflow of sewerage water

KARACHI: The shopkeepers of Super Market Liaquatabad on Tuesday protested against overflowing sewerage water that entered into their shops.

According to details, the shopkeepers of Super Market protested against the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for its failure to stop overflowing sewerage water, that later entered into many shops in the market.

Shopkeepers threw junk and stones on the road near Shell petrol pump, closing the road for traffic, which resulted in long queues of vehicles. They shouted slogans against the KMC.

They said that overflowing gutter water was destroying their goods and no consumer visit to their market due to foul smell of dirty water. We were suffering losses day by day but the KMC is not listening to our complaints, they regretted.

Police reached on the spot and after successful dialogue with protestors KMC staff was summoned to open the chocked gutters. Later, the protestors dispersed peacefully and the police opened the road for traffic.
