Shujra vows action against illegal appointments, corruption

KARACHI: Coordinator to Chief Minister Sindh on Enquiries and Head of the Sindh Chief Minister Inspection Team (CMIT) Haji Muzaffar Shujra on Thursday said that corruption and illegal appointments were unearthed in several Sindh government departments and vowed to take strict action against all those responsible people.

Shujra said that illegal appointments and corruption was being reported in education, treasury, local bodies and other departments.

He said that excess appointments were unearthed by their team in Hyderabad, where 600 teachers were appointed on the seats of 400 teachers and they were also issued salaries from the education department. “Those appointed were teaching physical training, Arabic, drawing and other subjects in various Hyderabad schools,” he said.

He said that they had summoned officials involved in the matter and any further action would be taken after getting the version from the accused party.

Shujra said that massive irregularities were reported in treasury department where several district account officers were found involved in disbursing salaries to fake people after accepting bribes.

He said that irregularities were also found in local bodies departments and TMOs of various towns were asked to submit answers to the irregularities.

Responding on the issue of various off-road government vehicles being illegally used by government officials, Shujra said that details have been sought from the various departments and it would be compiled till the end of August 2014. “The report will be sent to Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and chief secretary Sindh for action against the people responsible,” he said.
