Shutter down, wheel jam against killing of DR Khalid Soomro

QUETTA: A shutter down strike and wheel jam was observed on the call of JUI Amir Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan Sunday. Shutter down and wheel jam was to protest murder of JUI leader Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro.

JUI protestors blocked roads by burning tyres and putting hurdles and also staged dharna for several hours at Manan Chowk here today. Aerial firing was made at Sariab road creating serious fear in the area.

Strict security measures were also made to meet any unpleasant situation.

Shops and business concerns at Jinnah Road, Kandahar Bazar, Liaqat Bazaar, Mission road, Toghi road, Prince road Sariab road, Fatima Jinnah road, Suraj Ganj Bazaar, Sirki road, kasi road, Circular road, Satelite town, Shahbaz town, Samungli road and others remained closed. Vehicles were also off the road.

Aerial firing was made in Sariab area to disperse protestors blocking road. There was no loss of life and damage to property in any part.

Reports of Shutter down and wheel jam in Kuchlak, Sibi, Mastung, Dhadar, Sohbatpur, Gwadar, Jewani, Pasni, Pushikan, Kalat, Harnai, Killa Saifullah, Jaffarabad, Nasirabad, Killa Abdullah, Loralai, Duki, Dalbandin, Chagai, Hub, Taftan, Pak-Iran border, Noshki, Kharan, Nok Kundi, and others.

Road links with Afghanistan and Iran were also closed due to blockade fo roads in various parts.

Ambulances, media, hotels, tanoors, medical Stores were exempted from shutter down.

There were reports of forcefully closure of shops and roads in some areas of the province. No untoward incident was reported from any part.
