Sindh assembly defers consideration of bill

Karachi: Sindh Assembly here Thursday deferred the consideration of a government bill till Friday.

Govt Bill No 39/2015 The Provincial Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill 2015 was presented by senior minister for parliamentary affairs Nisar Ahmed Khuhro. On his motion the House also relaxed rules for immediate consideration of the bill.

However, during clause to clause consideration of the bill, it seemed that the government side had not properly read the bill and tabled it in haste. MQM parliamentary leader Sardar Ahmed said the bill seemed a ditto copy of the old bill and no amendments were introduced in its main clauses.

However, after a long debate it was decided to defer the consideration of the remaining clauses of the bill to Friday.

However, the opposition member expressed grave concern on pathetically low rates of compensation to be paid to commuters by the bus owners in case of any accident that results into the loss of life or limbs.
