Sindh assembly for adherence to traffic rules

Karachi: Sindh assembly here Monday was told that there is a need of following traffic rules, strictly, in Karachi and other parts of the province.

Mumtaz Shamim, lawmaker of ruling PPPP, said the zebra crossings and traffic signs should be well-marked, as citizens have to pay fines of traffic police for violation of zebra crossings that are even not properly marked on roads. She said traffic police have changed their uniform but not their old habits. She said many traffic cops are found chewing gutika while on duty, which is against the law.

However, Jam Mahtab Dahar said mostly rickshaw and motorcycle riders are found in breaking the traffic signal lights. The bikers are also amongst the victims of fatal road accidents. He said the traffic police should ensure strict observance of the road rules.

Speaker, Agha Siraj Durrani also observed that bikers are mostly involved in road accidents and traffic police should ensure implementation of traffic discipline.
