Sindh police killed 753 criminals in 2015: Report

KARACHI: Sindh police on Thursday claimed that they had killed 753 criminals and arrested 12,235 in 3286 police encounters across Sind province in 2015.

AIG operations Sindh Giyasuddin Rashidi during a briefing to IGP Ghulam Hyder Jamali said that Sindh police had killed 753 criminals, including target killers and robbers, while 12,235 other were arrested in different encounter in the whole province during this period.

Police also recovered 20 LMGs, 11 G3s, rifles, 380 SMGs, 9089 pistols, 295 rifles, 964 repeaters, 526 kg explosive material, six IEDs, 32 suicide jackets, 688 hand grenades and 762 Awan bombs from their possession.

According to the police report, as compared to 2014, this year, 53% decline in killing, 80% in terrorist incidents, 98% in kidnapping for ransom and 98% decline in extortion had occurred.

In 2015, ninety police officers and constables were martyred, out of which 67 belong to Karachi, two to Hyderabad, six to Mirpurkhas, four to Shaheed Benazirabad, two to Sukkur and nine to Larkana.

IGP paid tribute to martyrs of Sindh police and instructed the officers that the welfare of their families be ensured.
