Sit-in against water shortage

KARACHI: Residents of Metroville SITE area staged a protest demo on Thursday near Metro Shopping Mall at Habib Bank Flyover against shortage of water in their area.

A large number of Metroville (Bab-e-Khyaber) residents including children, youth and men took part in the protest and raised slogans against Karachi water and sewerage board.

They said that there is a severe shortage of water in Metroville, and added that their family members were sick due to drinking salted water as water tankers were available only at very high rate.

Protesters also warned they will hold sit-in until the KWSB representatives come to hear their problems and assure them to end the shortage of water in Metroille.

Residents of the area blocked the Habib Bank Road for five hours. As a result traffic jams were seen on all roads leading to SITE area from Habib Bank.

The residents also appealed to Deputy Commissioner, MD KWSB and other higher authorities to take notice of this injustice with them.
