SIU arrest bank robbers

KARACHI: SSP Special Investigation Unit Farooq Awan held a press conference at CIA centre Saddar on Wednesday and claimed to have arrested the leader of a gang along with his accomplice who were involved in a bank robbery and recovered snatched repeater and pistol from their possession.

CIA SIU raided in Awami Colony near Hashim Shah Fida Bagh, Korangi and arrested accused Mohammad Sajid son of Khadim Hussain along with accomplices Abdul Khaliq son of Abdul Sattar and Adnan son of Shabbir.

On 13-10-2014 these accused had looted a branch of Summit Bank in Gulistan-e-Johar Karachi. The accused were identified with the help of bank CCTV footage.

During robbery on resistance they had opened fire on bank security guards and a guard was injured. The brobbers snatched his repeater and a TT pistol was snatched from another security guard named Ghulam Rasool. However, on the resistances of the security guards bandits were not succeeded in looting a big amount of money from the bank.

In past these accused had also been arrested by Feerozabad, Gulbhar, North Nazimabad and Steel Town police in deferent cases. Accused Sajid and Abdul Khaliq were also arrested in 2013 by the SIU.

Further investigation was under way and disclosures were expected from the arrested accused.
